Fair Weekend Continued

The great County Fair has come and gone. We enjoyed having Grandma here to visit for the week. She came for the performance of "Some Digging Required", and stayed for the week. It was nice to have her here. I felt bad because I was sick all week with a major sinus infection, but it was still nice to have her here. The kids put stuff in the fair and did really well. They all put in something, except for Jesse who was going to put in his blue ribbon cinnamon rolls, but ended up with football pictures the afternoon that they had to be made. Minnie was excited to get "all blues". Anthony was very excited to get "Best of Show" and "Special Merit" on his lego cake. Diana was most excited about getting a red ribbon on a photograph - the photography competition is tough. Jazlynne was just excited to get ribbons.

The kids were off of school both Friday and Monday, so they had a long weekend. We spent Monday putting up Halloween decorations, including making headstones in the front yard. It was a nice day to just hang out with the kids, we don't do that enough; seems like there is always something going on.

Today was the last Middle School football game and our star had to sit the bench. He wasn't very happy about it. He fractured his little finger in the last game, so was out for four weeks. Thank goodness there was only one game left. He did say that it was worth it, though, because the game that he fractured his finger his team beat their arch rivals. I'm not sure about this football stuff - so far we've had an injury each year he has played. But he loves it, and is all over the field. After awhile the announcers just start saying "there's that number 12 again". So, we'll hang up the helmet for the year, but we'll be back out there next season.

Another great fair for the Whetten's. Whether you were sick or not, Grandma was absolutely in heaven when she was there. She says she doesn't know how you keep up with everything you do - think she's forgotten what it's like to have 6 children.
