I can't believe that it's the middle of June. Things have so busy since April that I haven't had time to breath. Just a few of the highlights of the past few months.
I was able to be involved in the Temple Cultural Celebration for The Gila Valley Temple. It was a really busy, but amazing experience. I was the costumer for the youth of our stake. Which meant helping to sew 50 pairs of bloomers and 350 white capes; gathering up enough pioneer costumes for 50 girls; ordering plastic hard hats, and yellow ribbon for 450 youth; and making sure they all had what they needed during the rehearsals and performances. The rehearsals were crazy, but it was all worth it when they performed for the prophet. Feeling their excitment, and watching them on the field as they performed for him, and watching them all stand on the field - 1600 youth - completely quiet, just watching as the prophet left, not wanting to leave themselves, then coming off the field quietly with tears in their eyes. It was truly amazing.
Being part of the Temple Open House and seeing my kids excitement as they went through the temple multiple times, as they signed up and volunteered again and again to serve at the temple putting shoe covers on peoples feet. They did not want it to end.
Then being able to be at the dedication was another wonderful day. The spirit was so strong and it was great to be a part of it. LaMont and I were able to go into the temple for the final dedication service. I felt very blessed to be able to be there.
During May we also had Jason's graduation from EAC, and Anthony's 8th grade promotion. I can't believe how fast time flies. Next year I will have 3 kids in High School, and another off to a University. It was wonderful to be with Mom and Dad to celebrate all of the graduations in the family. It was a fun day just being together.
I was able to go to Girls Camp again. I was the 1st level leader which was tons of fun. These are the little 12 year olds who are just excited to be at camp. They are even excited about certification - which I was over. We learned knots, first aid, cooked foil dinners and smores, and went on a hike that ended up taking longer than planned, and in which I was a little nervous since it was off the trail and I was the only one that knew the way, but all in all it was fun. I loved spending a week with friends.
After Girls Camp Mom came to spend a few days, it was great having her here. Kynzie came with her and my girls had so much fun having a cousin stay for a few days. They spent a lot of time in the pool, and we had to take Mema to the Ice King for a shaved ice because she had never had one.
I've been canning green beans from the garden, as well as apricot jam, and this week will be plum jelly. Kynzie taught us how to make friendship bracelets so I taught my girls and there are now friendship bracelets on everyones wrists and ankles.
LaMont has been turning a closet into a pantry for me, and building a rabbit hutch for Zena - the pet rabbit that is very messy and needs to move outdoors.
I am slowly getting myself back organized again after everything that has gone on. Of course through all of this we have had car problems, school problems and sewer problems, but we make it through - the sewer will be fixed tomorrow - yeah !!! for showers and a washing machine. Life is good!!!
