Sports Mom????

I decided on Sat. after sitting through two more soccer games that I'm not sure if I was made to be a "sports mom". I get way too stressed for my kids. I have one very athletic son, and one not very coordinated son. My athletic son gets a little aggressive at times, so I worry that he'll be aggressive on the field. He almost got kicked out of a game last year. My other son tries so hard, so hard in fact that his feet sometimes go where he's not meaning them to. Therefore, he kicks or trips people once in awhile. So, I worry about that. I never worry if they'll win the game, I just want them to walk off the field feeling good about themselves and about the game they played. I want them to be happy with themselves. So, I take my little knitting loom and work on hats and try not to get to stressed out. I'm in this one for the long haul, so I guess I'll be making a lot of hats.

It's definitely a long haul. Even with my kids as old as they are, I worry about them and wish they lived closer so I could help them with their problems. It's a mom thing. As long as they are having fun with sports, that's more important than how well or how badly they play. You are doing great - hang in there. (I'm sure there are lots of people who can use knitted hats!)

I hear you! That was my lament a few weeks ago. I have to have something else to keep myself distracted from the field. To think that LVH feels the same even w/ her kids much older - aye aye aye! Maybe I'm not made out to be long haul mother!!!

Ah, I am the worst sports mom ever. Our Jess wanted to play everything. I worried that he wouldn't do well, I worried that he would get hurt. I worried that when he didn't do well he would feel bad. He loved every minute of it and never let it bother him he was having a great time. We learn a lot from our kids, and from him I learned that sports are a game (novel thought) they are for having fun. Keep it in perspective and you will enjoy it more. We sure did.
