Swat the "Fly Lady"
A friend of mine who is really into organization told me about the site flylady.com. Well, I like to organize, so I went to check it out. It is a whole program of being organized and having a clean house. Well, that sounds cool. So, I sign on and get these little e-mail reminders. Well, all I can say now is "get rid of the fly lady". I mean really, why should we judge ourselves on whether or not our kitchen sink shines. I already stress myself out at times trying to make sure everything stays clean and I'm top of everything. Well, it doesn't happen all the time. Why stress about it? Why not judge myself on whether or not I hugged my kids today instead of whether or not the laundry is all folded and put away? Why not judge myself on whether or not I took the time to talk to a friend instead of how many things I got accomplished today. What is most important? Why stress out becuase my daughters idea of cleaning her room is to make the bed and pick up her clothes, at least she does that. Why stress out when my youngest makes a mess while making a sandwich herself, at least she's learning how to make a sandwich. My new outlook is to try and enjoy the small things, and don't sweat the small stuff.

I agree, swat that fly lady, a clean house in my life represents one of two things, it's Monday, or the kids are away with someone, which never happens so mostly Monday. Someday the fingerprints will be gone and all we will have is a clean house. Love ya, Tiff
You're preaching to the choir! Super clean houses scare me!
ANTI Fly-lady, here, too! i had some friends into that a few years ago, and it totally irritated me! I am NOT a fly lady!
Here! Here! to a little clutter and an unshiny sink! (who really cares if their sink shines?! Honestly!)
Hey Pen, I'm just reading some of your old blogs. I subscribed to Fly Lady's emails for about a year, and finally it just got to be rediculous. Not so much the cleaning and stuff (I like being told what to clean each day, I'm a rule follower) but she was really big on accepting ourselves the way we are and not trying to improve. At least it seemed that way. So ladies would write in saying they were quitting their diets because they were happy the way they were. Or not working for that size 10 because size 18 was good enough. One gal wrote in saying that she was going to stop wearing under-eye concealer because dark under-circle eyes is who she was and she was proud of that. OK, I'm fine with us being happy with being daughters of God and having good self-esteem, but we do need to try our best and do our best and learn and achieve and succeed and progress. Ok that was really long. Just wanted to concur that Fly Lady is a bit much.
