Vitamin C - Friend or Foe???

How many of you take a daily dose of Vitamin C? Well, I do. This morning I went to a Pilate's class. While driving back home and talking to my friend about how sore I was going to be she told me to take extra vitamin C today and walk tomorrow and that would help. Good advice I thought. Later in the day Jason received a phone call from a member of his cast. The phone call came from the hospital where this young man has been admitted. He will be in the hospital for at least 3 days. The reason? Vitamin C!! While taking a Vitamin C this morning it got stuck in his esophagus. While they couldn't get it out the acid from the Vitamin C ate a hole in his esophagus. So, he is now in the hospital doing I'm not sure what, to repair the hole caused by the ever healthful Vitamin C. So, I ask you is Vitamin C friend or foe?

Will had read lately that vit C doesn't even help fight colds and stuff. And its added to nearly everything. SO that means (to me) that you should not have to take supplements of it.
Why not drinks some oj? Or eat an orange? Those wouldn't get caught in your throat and cause that type of damage.

I had never heard that you should take it after working out to keep from being sore.

Vitamin C is everywhere. What your body won't absorb you are just going to pee out anyway within a few hours of taking the supplement. yeah, i agree with leaner, just eat an orange and get some fiber as well. Did you know some of the chemicals in some supplements that hold the pills together can be found in most household paints!!!
