Uniqueness

I find it interesting with 6 children the ways that they each find their own unique way to do things. The hard part as the parent is to see their uniqueness and try not to squelch it, but yet direct them when their uniqueness is not quite following the rules of the family. They each have their own little things. My 6 year old will only wear jeans, no other pants. She doesn't even like capris because she says they are short. She can't quite get it that they are supposed to be short. My 11 year old never has socks, I personally think he eats them or something, but he always runs out. This morning he only had one pair in his drawer, and oh, horror. They were long socks. Well, you can't wear long socks with your shorts and still be cool. Not even if you push them down or something. (They are not even really long, you just would be able to see them) So, he had to wear pants today, because there was no way he was wearing shorts and long socks. He also will only wear t-shirts, no polos or button-ups. My 12 year old comes out dressed in heaven knows what every day. Some days she looks very nice, some days she's in the grung mood. Other days like today, I'm not really sure. My 10 year old has a beany that his grandmother made him for Christmas. Every night after his shower he puts it on. Well, by morning he has a cone-head appearance with his hair. It's kind of funny. My 5 year old loves clothes, she loves to look cute and dresses very carefully most of the time. Like the flowers in a garden. All different, but all loved for their uniqueness, and all together to make the world beautiful.

Isn't it great, though? I love the uniqueness of children. I mean no matter what I say, Rhayn has strong ideas on how to dress for every occasion. People are coming over to our house? A beautiful dress is donned. Oh, its Jesse? Must wear a cowgirlish outfit(if Stacey is coming, it has to be purple!)
I can't wait to see how Bug dresses and how she acts.

on our way back from AZ we stopped and spent the night in CO to see the grandkids. Sunday morning as I was getting dressed to leave, the oldest granddaughter told me that Tata could go home and see the dogs but I needed to stay with her. I told her I had to leave but I would send her a letter - she informed me that instead I should send her purple shoes. Everything has to be purple or pink. But I agree with your 6 year old - jeans are the only kind of pants to wear.
