SNOW DAY!!!

Snow Day!!! Can you believe it we had a snow day - the whole town pretty much shut down, no school, no work, the mail didn't even deliver. Sunday night we started to have some snow - the kind we usually get maybe once every 5 years or so, enough to make a little snowball and to stand out in and yell and scream and be excited about. Well, it didn't stop. It snowed all night, and by Monday morning we were covered in snow. It looked like a Christmas card, it was so beautiful. My kids were so excited. It continued to snow most of the day and we ended up with 10 inches at our house. We had our first ever Snow Day. During the day we had 11 extra kids at one time or another, they just showed up. No one was driving, so kids were just walking around town, and we ended up with some older teenager friends of ours and some little neighbor kids hanging around our house. The kids had snowball fights, made angels, made snowmen, drank tons of hot chocolate, went through tons of wet clothes, and enjoy themselves immensly. We even made Snow Ice Cream. As I stood outside in the snow, watching the flakes come down, listening to the kids laughter and talking to some of the older kids it didn't seem real. It seemed like a day out of a book or a movie. Everyone needs a day like that, to just enjoy for no reason at all except that it snowed, which for us was a miracle.

I loved snow days when I was a kid. I remember waking up and looking out the window hoping there would be 2 inches so I could stay home and play in the snow before it all melted away. My kids will probably never get to experience a snow day. I'm glad that your family could enjoy your magical day.
