After 3 days of snow and ice we are finally melting. It has been so cold here. We had icicles hanging from the house and the plants, and yesterday morning we woke up to frost all over everything. It was a beautiful morning. Who would believe we are in the desert. Theses pictures were taken yesterday. I'm ready for it to melt and at least be in the 50's or so. This little hummingbird is our winter visitor. I think maybe he missed the migration train. He has been hanging around my empty feeder so after it snowed I filled the feeder so he would at least have something to eat. My bulbs are poking through the snow and my dogs are laying on the dead grass happy to have a place to lay in the sun again. I'll just be glad when my floors can be dry again with no muddy shoes. But it was fun while it lasted, and we needed the water so it's a great blessing to our area, and an opportunity my kids probably won't have again, because I won't be moving anywhere where snow is a common thing.

Those are some great pictures. The desert covered in snow is such a rare sight. We also had some snow but it wasn't deep enough to cancel school - although we were hoping it might. Mr. dacheese had to go to school and on his way he stopped and took some pics of his 10" snowman that he made. Sadly he only had his phone camera, so they aren't the best. Just a few hours and it was only a memory. Nothing as cool as your snow day.
