Wake Up Call

About a month ago I had a good friend go through a nervous break down. It was pretty serious and she was in the hospital for a couple of days. It was really hard watching her go through it, and now watching her try to put her life back together. It's a long and slow process. She had every reason to go through this, she has been through more traumatic experiences in her life than most of us could even imagine, and it just got to be too much for her. It's hard knowing what to say sometimes, not wanting to say anything that may cause her to feel bad about her own life. She feels so much like she has failed and is having to rebuild the self esteem that she had, the belief in herself as a mother, as a wife, and as a person. As I watch her I have a thought a lot about how important it is to be happy with who you are. We are all too hard on ourselves. We expect too much of ourselves, we compare ourselves to everyone around us, and through doing that we also compare and judge others. We all need to just put our arms around each other and love each other, no matter what. We need to go back to the simple life where we take care of ouselves and our family, where we have time for each other, where we don't have to worry about the fast paced world around us. We all need to believe in ourselves and in the potential that we have. We need to take care ourselves before we hit a brick wall in our life that knocks us out. And when we do get knocked out we need someone there to pick us back up, give us a hug and love us.
