Thanksgiving Fun!!!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. The Whetten clan got together at our house and we had a house full of 36 people. Our day was full of food, Christmas crafts, letters written to our missionaries and service men, the annual horse - shoe game, phone calls to Mema, and the Whetten tradition for eating whipped cream; which involves an uncle walking around with a can of spray whip cream in each hand filling the mouths to overflowing of anyone brave enough to try.

Our weekend also included a new addition to our home. Mont found a red cross-beak who hadn't learned to fly yet. It was just sitting on the ground, so he picked it up to show the kids and it was very calm in his hand. It is now in a cage in our family room - although at the moment it is sitting on top of the cage among some pine branches the kids put there. The kids love to take it out and hold it, and say that it's more entertaining than TV to just sit and watch it try and learn to fly. It gets out of the cage if the door is open and climbs to the top of the cage, then it will try and fly but end up on the floor. Then it has to try hard to fly back up to the cage and eventually makes it, climbs to the top and hides in the branches. It has become a fun addition to our home.
