Sunshine on the horizon
Today has been a better day - we are getting the hang of things and into a swing. I am trying to look for the positive things and do what I can to appear unstressed with everything. The Home Health nurse came for the first time and changed the dressing on my mother-in-laws leg, I am glad that I don't have to do that myself. I'm not real good with things like that. She was able to stand up on her own today and even walk down the hall part way with the walker. I do have to get her up and walking more, every 3 or 4 hours and help her with some physical therapy to get her muscle strength back. I have to be a little more vigilant in making sure she drinks enough water and gets some good nutrition so she can heal better. I am learning a lot and it's helping me to prepare for the possible future as we may have a time when she is here permanently. The weather has been beautiful and my kids have been able to play outside most of the time which has been wonderful. It's not what we usually do for spring break, we usually try and do a few things, but that's okay. The kids are relaxing and playing so they are still getting a break. Tomorrow will be my first time where I need to leave during the day - my kids have haircut appointments. So, I'll have to make sure that she is all taken care of before I leave so that she won't have to get out of her chair, then I'll leave my oldest daughter in charge while I drop the boys off. It's a little interesting to have to think through things like that. It definitely makes me grateful that I am able to get around on my own as I watch her struggle with being dependant on us for everything.
