Small & Simple Words

The words "I love you" and "Thank you" are such small words and yet can turn a day around.  As a Mother of pre-teens and teenagers these are not words I hear very often from my children.  In fact there are days when I go through the entire day wondering if my children even notice me - except when they need something done. I do have to admit that I have a son that tells me he loves me every day, so I guess it's not like I don't hear it at all.  But there are times when it feels like I am just the servant that cleans the house.  Then there is the school drop off, where we pull up to the school and the kids jump out as I am saying "Good bye, have a good day, I love you" and the door is shut mid sentence.  So much for that. Having 6 kids means that there is almost always someone who is not happy with life, and therefore not happy with me; which means the door is shut mid sentence.  But then every once in awhile there is that pause and "Love you Mom" or the quick "Thanks" and sometimes even a hug. Today it was both.  Today is a good day!!!
