Our Orchard

I did have something nice I wanted to blog about today. Behind our house we have a huge backyard, and then behind that we have another large part of a lot that is ours. We have been wanting (well, I have been wanting) to turn it into an orchard and garden. So, Saturday we were able to take the first step. We planted 5 fruit trees. Two apple, an apricot, a nectarine, and a cherry. I am so excited. Some day we'll be able to go back there and pick fruit. We already have a pomegranate, two pecans, and a pear tree. Next step is getting the ground ready for the garden. Yeah, fresh vegetables here we come.

We waited so many years after moving into our home to plant fruit trees. If we had planted right away they would be mature and bearing lots of fruit. So very smart of you, and with all your land it is great. 'course you'll have to start canning in a few years.

Actually abennana I already can - I enjoy it, so I guess you could call it a hobby. I might as well have my own fruit instead of having to buy it all the time.
